Improvising Over Stella By Starlight Lesson Details

Improvising Over Stella By Starlight
This great standard is a challenge to improvise over. It progresses through several keys, never resolving to those keys in ways that you would expect and often just modulates on the spot. Yet, the keys that it progresses through aren't particularly difficult- nothing more than Ab and for most of the tune just Bb. In this lesson learn how to navigate these changes using chord tones on strong beats, arpeggios, scale passages and approach patterns as well as a blues lick, upper structure triads, and over-the-barline phrasing among other techniques.
