"I've played through night and day twice now using the 7th chords. So excited....to finally learn. And I can't wait to subscribe. Thanks for such an awesome resource! And for responding so quickly." -Matthew

"Over the past several years,I've spent hundreds of dollars on jazz piano books, cd's dvd's online courses, private teachers, etc...and I must say your online program is by a clear mile the absolute BEST. I have learned and applied more from your lessons in just a few days than I have from all other programs. Thanks you , God bless you and continue the great work !!!" -Gabriel
"This last lesson (Safflower) was outstanding. The explanations were clear. The musical examples were beautiful. Keep them coming!" -Tim
"Hi, Continue to be amazed at how well organized your whole program is. I only wish I had found you before spending $100s on books, videos and other internet programs. There is only one place people need to go to learn Jazz Piano and it is Jazz Piano Online. " -Steve
"Your site is IT! It is so well laid out, the information is so clearly explained and valuable. I am so excited to have found Jazz Piano Online. I will be happy to write more testimonials as I progress, but just wanted you to know right away how happy I am with what I see. This has been a 30 year quest on my part, and I know that "it is not too late' to become the Jazz Pianist I have always wanted to be. Thank you soooo much." -Steve
"I signed up for the three-month subscription this morning (it was your email responses and the free lydian exercise lesson that convinced me) and I've spent most of the day at the piano with Safflower. What a beauty. What a blast. And perfect for where I want to start. Not too hard, but challenging with great chords that have never come out of my hands. Great motivator (as in...oh, man, maybe I CAN do this..)" -Andy
"Your chapter on the 4 basic concepts of improv has opened a whole new door for me!!! thank you!!! if only jazz teachers who I paid good money in the past had taught me this I'd have been overjoyed! again, thank you so much." -Ray
"I want to say that you have a remarkable website and teaching program. Since finding your site I have increased my practicing and abilities tremendously and know understand so much more. I have a regular jazz teacher but unfortunately he is disorganized in his teaching. Your lessons fill in a huge void and are remarkable for their reliance on repetition, clarity and incremental learning. I love starting new lessons and acquiring new skills. The other day I played in a bar for the first time in ages and it sounded great. BTW, I'm a physician so that's a fun thing for me to do.
Keep up the great work. I wish medical school could be taught this well. " -Marc
Keep up the great work. I wish medical school could be taught this well. " -Marc
"Thanks for the course it's beautiful!!" -Giulio
"I find a lot of use, stimulation and inspiration in your lessons." -Rene
"Your site is awesome! I've gone through many jazz theory books. No book can compare to seeing an example being executed and having a human voice explain the examples. Also the quizzes, and extra pop up windows are great. It's like having a teacher by your side. I will definitely be signing up for a longer term" -Emory
"I have been a subscriber for 3+ hrs and I am amazed at how much I have learned already. I am thrilled with the lessons I have taken so far this evening! Thank you from a new fan!" -Bob
"I am very glad I discovered you. I have never seen anyone present this information as good as you do. For years I have been wondering about voicings, about RH improvisation and rhythms for solo piano. You have answered my questions with your demonstration videos, explanations, and practice exercises." -Keith
"I wanted to mention that the Own Sweet Way lesson is spectacular. The way it is presented with the written out examples in the practice session and also the 4 note cell explanations are extremely valuable. To me, this tune, and Kirk Lightsey's playing really pull together the lessons on Approach Patterns, Melodic Construction, and feel like I am finally making some progress in my playing. Thanks for the special talent you have in teaching, and for making your knowledge available in a truly remarkable setting." -Ron
"Thoroughly enjoying your programs. You have done a wonderful job, well organized! My biggest challenge is staying focused! Bit like a "blind dog in a meat market," but your lessons are just the right size without too much information. Can play your blues in F fairly well. Love trying to imitate your style....I actually sound like I can play! For the first time I am actually managing the voicing progressions." -Camille
"Just so you know, I really enjoy your videos and lessons… they are presented in such a way that I can easily follow and understand. And I love the way you break down the improvisation." -Melani
"Great product! And I have tried and bought everything! " -Camille
"I can't tell you how delighted I am with the site. I had a go at other online teaching sites in the past, but nothing I tried comes anyway close to the quality and presentation of yours" -Stephen
"This program is far, far beyond my expectations. Glad I didn't miss it." -Dick
"For the classically trained, jazz frustrated enthusiast, this program is a must. It has been masterly created and executed, and has proven to be far beyond my expectations. Thank you, again, for your professionalism." -Dick
"Your site is absolutely filling the gaps in my knowledge. Since I registered I have watched all your lessons and continue to watch them over and over again as they are so well thought out and informative. Your playing is beautiful as well. Having learned the conventional way whether through classroom , private or self …… this “new” way through the internet is awesome, particularly because of your format, strategy, approach to teaching. Also the “code” 4 components of melodic construction is wonderful. Great job!!" -Frank
"Your website seems to be one of the few of this nature that offer honest, meaningful and valuable information. You also seem to have a way to describe complex things simply, so that even I can understand." -Stan
"I've just renewed my own subscription and I really like the way you present lessons and practice material. I really like your presentation of the material and pace of learning." -Robert
"the wonder chest of jazz piano" -Bob
"I’ve continued to look at other sites and have not found anything that approaches the subject as well as yours. BTW, one of my co-workers recently subscribed to your site (I had suggested it to him) – he was totally “blown away” by what you have to offer. He and I talk about it frequently – many times getting together for lunch and just going over one or more of the lessons and marveling at your treatment of the material." -Bob
"What I love about your site is that it provides me with the systematic method that I've been craving and not getting from most teachers. Often a teacher will have me play and then give feedback, instead of your more directive approach. I love being told "Now do this." -Dean
"I'm enjoying the lessons. I got a lot out of the lesson about improvising over the blues Wynton-style - the chromatic approach to a chord tone has revolutionized my playing overnight - over the years I heard this on so many records without knowing what was going on and now I have it in my bag of tricks ! Similarly the use of neighboring notes to approach the chord tone is another trick I'm happy to add to my armoury. Gives a very bebop sound. And the rule about the II minor to create the Gospel sound was another mystery explained. I am happy to report that the fog is beginning to lift..." -Gerry
"Right now I am very much enjoying going through all the lessons and information you have on your website. Finally, thanks to you, I am understanding and applying concepts I worked on over the years but never could make practical use of. I'm 63 years old, have a MS degree and certifications in many different fields that required many many classes. I honestly can say you are THE BEST TEACHER I have ever had. Your demonstrations and explanations are incredible, so well prepared and thought out. I am so glad I discovered you." -Keith
"Just have to express how pleased I am with what you have done. You obviously put considerable thought and effort into this I do so appreciate it." -Don
"When I took your free lesson on "Improvisation, the concept" .... I was totally impressed. I Have never come across this 'chord tone , target note , 4 components to melodic structure concept and drilling. It's always been about the modes, like you point out in the Jamie Abersold books , or licks , or sequences ... etc. I never had a problem hearing or creating in my head a melody over a 2 bar "two five" chord sequence but beyond that it never occurred to me to think of an 8 bar or extended passage by thinking of chord tones on strong beats connected by the other components. You have opened up a door for me and I look forward to working on all your lessons and the practice sessions. Excellent web site." -Frank
"Also want to compliment you on the website and the instructional courses. Outstanding stuff thus far in my search for more jazz knowledge. But I like your approach the best thus far. I need to see stuff live and explained concisely and in a graduated methodical fashion and then practice accordingly." -Paul
"First of all I would like to tell you how great your offering is and that I am absolutely delighted with what you propose! Keep it on!" -Patrick
"I've learned so much from your site. I've been to a lot of sites and you are very detailed with you(r) teaching and you've really enlightend me with a lot of good information." -Irv
"I have been subsc(r)ibing for about three months now and am very pleased with the material and the way you present it." -Ron
"First of all I want to thank you for putting together such a nice streamlined environment for learning Jazz piano." -Kenny
"The connection between what you are doing with your hands and the sounds that you get was very informative to me. In particular, I was struck by the variety of ways you used your left hand. Sometimes you played only one or two notes, sometimes you played a more or less full chord, sometimes you included the root, and other times you played a broken chord. One of the things that has always intrigued me is how good jazz pianists get such a variety of sounds on a tune. Watching your hands and listening to the corresponding sound was VERY enlightening for me." -Ken
"I look forward to improving my playing and my knowledge. I was looking at the Berklee on line 12 week sessions, but the $$$ was more than I wanted to do for something that is going to take some time to fit into my busy schedule. I think your info waiting for me is better than trying to jam 4 or 5 hours into a week that I don't really have time." -Randall
"I love the way you give context to the piece of music you are presenting by discussing it's history and by suggesting important or otherwise worthwhile recordings in the introduction of each lesson. And then to have it only a click away by getting it at your store is remarkable! None of my previous teachers couched the music in it's history the way you do." -Lenny
"Hey Bill! Your site looks great. After going through the free lessons, I couldn't resist. I had to sign up. I watched your lesson on O Tannenbaum about a million times and played most of it for my family over the holidays. They were very impressed and everyone wanted to see your website." -James
"I even considered going back and getting a degree either in jazz performance or composition/arranging, but your online course is offering much more than I could hope to get at a conservatory, for a whole lot less money." -Dean
"Your videos are great, keep them up! Just joined your community yesterday and I'm very impressed with the lessons! They are full packed with useful information and there is no water in them! Outstanding! The more I watch your videos the more it's getting clear to me that JPO is the best jazz resource over Inet! Really Thank you!" -Dimy
"Thank you for what you do. I have never been able to find this information in all the books and magazines that I have read." -Paul
"Again, I love the website and can’t wait to dive into all these great lessons. I wish my jazz piano teachers in the past had laid it out as simply and as user friendly as you. keep up the great work." -Michael
"You have such a great way of presenting information, way better than any teacher (and I've been to a lot)." -Neil
"I have to tell you that your site is the best out there and there is a need for it especially in learning Jazz Piano. I can tell you that I am a professional musician who has a masters in teaching music. I am a keyboard player and I have been studying Jazz off and on for years and am still trying to put it all together. I learned bits and pieces from different people. I have the John Novello book which I found useful but to see the piano and have a pdf with assignments and also links to hear everything is great. I think the way you break down the improvised line is the best way to learn how to build a solo. Creating melodic Target notes sound great by themselves and the rest is filling in the blanks." -Tom
"When I discovered the free lesson with the "5 Essential 7th chords" I immediately made that lesson a sort of warmup exercise that has also helped me get a quick grasp on the 5 most important chords to get started on Jazz piano. I had done something similar on guitar, but had never visualized it like you did to piano. Thanks for a truly wonderful website! I have learned tons in just a small amount of time." -Eddie
"As a guitarist of 35 plus years in a variety of styles (mostly in the Jazz vein) your lessons are just what I needed to get started on piano. The theory I've taught myself beforehand from my guitar studies has been an added bonus to understanding your lessons at a faster pace. Your approach is totally wonderful especially since you tend to introduce each new concept via Classic and Standard Jazz tunes. You just can't beat that style of learning!" -Eddie
"Love your web site. I discovered your site a few days ago and signed up immediately. This is exactly what I have been looking for -- a way for someone with heavy classical training (as a child) who has for many years desperately wanted to learn jazz piano but could never figure out how to (short of taking expensive weekly private lessons). Always looking forward to seeing what new stuff is added. One of the great things about your website is the structure that it provides -- as I get too far afield, your structure brings me back down to earth." -Yoav
"Until I ran into your site I would dread my band rehearsals because of the "on-the-spot" feeling I would get when it's my turn to improvise. Then one day after studying with you for two weeks I went to rehearsal and it all came out. My band was pleasantly surprised." -Hart
"I just took a look at the notation and just have to express how pleased I am with what you have done. You obviously put considerable thought and effort into this I do so appreciate it.
